~The
History of Misao~
Misao grew up in the care of a powerful fighting group called the Oniwabanshu. Her father, Okashira,
was the leader of the great fighting group, but he died, Aoshi Shinomori was left leader, and Misao was left to be raised
by the remaining Oniwabanshu. But all the Oniwabanshu knew really, was how to fight! So they taught Misao all their techniques.
Misao’s every technique was acquired through her role models (Aoshi, Hanya, and all the other members). That’s
where Misao got her personality as a tomboy! The Oniwabanshu aren’t some fashion show experts you know… Anyway,
eventually, Misao falls in love with Aoshi, but she was just a little girl then, and she didn’t understand what love
was yet. But then of course, when Aoshi and the main Oniwabanshu leave on a dangerous mission, Misao is left behind with the
others. But Misao wouldn’t stand for her love leaving her behind, so, naturally, when she was old enough, she went out
looking for Aoshi over Japan.
~Meeting Kenshin~
As Kenshin is making his way to Kyoto to stop the evil Shishio, he hears what sounds like
a mugging in the woods. When he went to see what was going on, he found a woman hidden in a hood, willing to sell her body
for money to two thugs. Well, turns out when the thugs gave her the money, the woman ripped off her hood, and behold! It’s
16-year-old Misao! The thugs walked away muttering to themselves. Bad thing for the thugs, but Misao heard each and every
comment made, and Misao beat them up! And that’s when Kenshin finally stepped in, and told her that she should give
the money back. But Misao, with her confident attitude, tried to mug Kenshin. But Kenshin’s skills far surpassed hers,
and she couldn’t even touch him! This just made Misao even angrier with Kenshin… but eventually the money gets
back to its rightful owners! Misao tells her story to Kenshin, about her journey to find Aoshi and the rest of the Oniwabanshu.
What Misao doesn’t know is that all the Oniwabanshu were killed in a fight… except for Aoshi. Even though it wasn’t
Kenshin’s fault, Aoshi blames Kenshin for the deaths, and is on a never-ending quest to slay Kenshin. Once Misao finds
out that Kenshin knows something about the Oniwabanshu, Misao tries to get it out of him. But Kenshin won’t tell her
for fear that it might hurt her too much. And so Kenshin continues his journey to Kyoto, with Misao following him around.
